Privacy Policy
What changed in 1.3 (2026-10-13): added a Screen casting section (now Section 7: requires the system screen-recording authorisation; screen and audio go directly to the TV you choose over your local network). The permissions table in Section 5 now covers casting, and the HarmonyOS bundle name was added to the scope. Removed the ad SDK section (the app contains no ads); the former Section 7, Sentry, is now Section 6 and the sections after it moved up accordingly. Nothing else changed.
What changed in 1.2 (2026-10-05): added the Sentry crash and error reporting terms (iOS / Android, enabled after you accept this policy; now Section 6). Nothing else changed.
In one sentence: Just Remote only sends commands to your TV over your home Wi‑Fi. It never reads what is on the TV screen or its audio, and it contains no behavioural analytics SDK. Only two kinds of data can leave your phone: an anonymous diagnostics record you can turn off at any time (used to find out why "a button doesn't work"), and crash and error reports sent after you accept this policy (Section 6). The app contains no ads. When you choose to cast, your phone's screen and audio go directly to the TV you selected over your local network, never through our servers (Section 7).
1. Who we are
Just Remote is developed and operated by Beijing Dramavision Technology Co., Ltd. ("we"). The app is independent third-party software and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any TV or platform brand.
2. How the app works, and what never leaves your phone
- Finding TVs: the app looks for TVs on the Wi‑Fi network you are currently connected to, using SSDP / mDNS broadcasts. The TV's local address, name and model are stored only on your phone so it can reconnect next time.
- Pairing and control: credentials the TV issues after pairing (for example a pairing cookie or an access token, depending on the TV) are kept only in the system secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore / the HarmonyOS equivalent). They are never written to logs and never uploaded.
- Favorite apps and inputs: the app names you choose as favorites and the TV's input list are cached on your phone, per TV.
- The app does not read or upload the TV's screen, audio, or anything you type on the TV, and it does not read your contacts, photos, location or other apps.
3. Data that can leave your phone: anonymous diagnostics
So that we can find the cause when you tell us "a button doesn't work", the app can keep an anonymous, structured usage record and send it to our server. This is off by default. Nothing is sent unless you turn on "Send usage records to the developer" under Settings → Diagnostics & feedback; the first time you turn it on, the app explains what is sent, how long it is kept, how to turn it off and how to delete it. Turning the switch off stops sending immediately.
What is sent
- For each remote command: whether the TV accepted it, the error code the TV returned, how long it took, and the state before and after.
- TV brand, model, firmware version and the protocol used; phone OS and version, phone model (low-cardinality, e.g. iPhone11,8); app version.
- A random diagnostics ID generated per install, used to match your feedback to your records. It is not linked to any account, device serial number or other identity.
What is not sent
- The TV's screen or audio; anything you type on the TV.
- Wi‑Fi names, local IP addresses, MAC addresses, device serial numbers, PIN codes, pairing credentials. Records are redacted against an allow-list on the phone before being stored, and filtered again on the server.
- Your favorites list only contains the app names you chose yourself; we do not record what is installed on your TV.
How long it is kept
- On your phone: 7 days or 20 MB, whichever comes first; older records are deleted automatically.
- On our server: deleted automatically after 30 days. The destination is chosen automatically by device region: mainland China → the server in mainland China (Tencent Cloud); everywhere else → Singapore (Tencent Cloud International). If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, turning diagnostics on means your anonymous records are transferred to and stored in Singapore for up to 30 days; you can decline by simply leaving the switch off, and you can delete uploaded records at any time (below).
How to delete
- Settings → Diagnostics & feedback: turning the switch off stops sending; pending items can be deleted there too.
- Settings → About → "Delete all usage records on this phone" uses the deletion credential stored on your phone to remove the copies on our server as well.
4. Feedback email
Settings → Report a problem opens your phone's email app with support@maaker.ai as the recipient and your diagnostics ID pre-filled in the subject. You decide what to write; we use it only to handle your report.
5. System permissions
| Permission | Purpose | When it is requested |
| Local Network (iOS) / Wi‑Fi multicast and network state (Android, HarmonyOS) | Discover and control TVs on the same Wi‑Fi | When you tap "Start searching" on the Find TV screen; if declined, it can be re-enabled in system settings |
| Screen recording authorisation (iOS screen broadcast / HarmonyOS screen capture); HarmonyOS continuous task | Capture the phone screen and audio while casting, and keep casting when the app is in the background (Section 7) | Each time you tap "Cast" and start casting, the system asks you to confirm; nothing is captured when you are not casting |
| Internet | Send anonymous diagnostics (optional), send crash and error reports (Section 6), open Help and this page | At install (the system does not prompt separately) |
The app does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, photo library or notification permissions. The screen-recording authorisation needed for casting is only requested by the system when you start casting, see Section 7.
6. Third-party SDK: Sentry crash and error reporting (iOS / Android)
So that crashes and errors can be found and fixed, since 1.2 the iOS and Android versions initialise the Sentry error reporting component after you accept this policy (the "Agree and start" button on the welcome screen). The HarmonyOS version never initialises it and sends nothing. This is a baseline reliability practice: without it, crashes in released versions can only surface through user complaints.
- When it sends: only after you accept this policy; only crash and uncaught-error events are sent, never your interactions. Events from developer test builds carry a dev tag and are kept separate from release builds.
- What Sentry receives: the type, stack trace and time of crashes and errors; device model and OS version, language and time zone, and device environment details such as screen size and memory; app version; and a random per-install anonymous ID (the same one as the diagnostics ID in Section 3, not linked to any account or identity). Local network details such as LAN IP and MAC addresses are filtered out on the phone before sending. Sentry does not store your IP address, but may record your approximate country or region from it.
- What is not sent: the TV's screen or audio, anything you type on the TV, pairing credentials and PINs, your favourites list; and no additional system permissions are requested for this.
- Who processes it and for how long: data goes to Sentry (us.sentry.io, United States) for error aggregation and alerting, retained under Sentry's platform policy; we only see aggregated crashes and errors, never user profiles.
Apart from the Sentry crash reporting in Section 6, the app contains no ads, behavioural analytics, push or third-party account SDKs. If a future version adds one, we will update this policy and ask for your consent again in the app.
7. Screen casting
On iOS and HarmonyOS you can cast your phone's screen and audio to the TV; the TV needs the TV version of "Just Remote". Casting only starts after you tap "Cast", and you can end it at any time on the phone or on the TV.
- System screen-recording authorisation: when you start casting, the system asks you to confirm (iOS screen broadcast / HarmonyOS screen capture); nothing is captured unless you confirm. The system shows a recording indicator while casting.
- Where the screen and audio go: only to the TV you selected, directly over your home network. They never pass through our servers; we cannot receive them and do not store them. The phone does not record or keep any cast content.
- Pairing: the first time you cast, the TV shows a pairing code. The credential the TV returns after pairing is kept only in the system's secure storage and never uploaded, the same as the remote-control pairing credentials in Section 2.
- Diagnostics: if you turn on diagnostics (Section 3), casting-related records likewise contain only results, error codes and timing, never any screen content or audio.
- Everything shown on your phone while casting (including notifications) appears on the TV, so mind your privacy. On HarmonyOS, the "screen privacy protection" option in the authorisation dialog can hide some private content.
8. Your rights
- Turn diagnostics off and delete records on your phone and on our server at any time (Section 3).
- Uninstall the app at any time: local data is removed with it; uploaded records are deleted automatically after the 30-day retention period, or immediately if you use "Delete all usage records on this phone" before uninstalling.
- If you are in the EEA or UK you also have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection under the GDPR / UK GDPR, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Because we hold no identifying information about you, requests are normally fulfilled by the in-app deletion above; for anything else contact us and quote your diagnostics ID.
- Questions about this policy: support@maaker.ai. We reply within 15 business days.
9. Children
The app is intended for general household use, is not directed to children, and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country).
10. Changes to this policy
After an update the app shows the policy again on the next launch and asks for your consent; material changes are highlighted at the top of this page. Previous versions are available on request.
